In November 2023, Takumi Kurosu, the owner of Style Coffee, opened his new establishment in the prestigious Kitayama area. This spacious café includes a large communal table for 6-8 people, a small internal garden, a table for two near the entrance, and a long bench partly used as a bookshelf. Although the number of books might mislead an avid reader, the café has no connection to Pear Press publishing; Takumi simply has a longstanding love for reading, and according to legend, the café’s name came about by chance.

The café opens at 7am, making it one of the few spots in Kyoto available for an early breakfast. The coffee is roasted in-house, mainly single origin (blends are rare), while the pastries come from a neighbouring bakery Uki.
