The second Kyoto café of the global specialty coffee chain Blue Bottle opened in July 2019 at the corner of Rokkaku and Higashi Toin streets as a pop-up shop serving takeaway only. By autumn of the same year, renovations on the second floor were completed, and it became a fully operational café. Like their first Kyoto location, it occupies a traditional two-story machiya-style building, albeit slightly smaller. The designer, also responsible for the first café near Nanzen-ji Temple, preserved the house's original structure and history, highlighting its authenticity with a sleek, avant-garde interior.
