Blue Bottle Coffee - Kyoto Cafe
Blue Bottle Coffee, a globally recognized name in the specialty coffee scene, has been operating in Kyoto since 2018. Their first café in the city is strategically located on the path to Nanzen-ji Temple, one of Kyoto’s most iconic landmarks, ensuring a constant flow of visitors. For this flagship location, Blue Bottle spared no expense, blending a unique avant-garde interior design with the nearly century-old wooden building’s traditional architecture. Notably, they also succeeded in obtaining a food service license for this site, a significant feat considering Japan's stringent regulations in this sector.
Blue Bottle’s cappuccino is distinct, prepared with minimal amount of milk. This approach gives it a profile reminiscent of a piccolo latte, allowing patrons to enjoy a drink that bridges the gap between a cappuccino and an espresso. It's ideal for those who find the milk in a standard cappuccino excessive but crave more than a macchiato offers. However, if you're accustomed to a more traditional cappuccino's milk content, you can request a single shot. Additionally, for an extra 100 yen, you can upgrade the espresso blend to a single-origin coffee, further enhancing the flavor.
